Year of Days (Midlands Arts Centre)
Stemming from the British Government Prevention of Terrorism Bill 2005, Year of Days is an exploration of the passage of time spent by people held in forced captivity resulting from house arrest. Time is measured by the captive individual based on the continuation of a denial to freedom. The very idea that ‘basic‘ human rights can be superseded and suspended in the pursuit of an ‘ideal society‘ is a paradox this piece attempts to deal with.
